Demi Lovato — freshly 18 years old — opened up to People magazine about her all-too-brief relationship with Joe Jonas, which met a swift, unexpected end earlier this year. In particular, she says she wished they never publicly announced it.

“I learned my lesson,” Lovato, 18, tells People. “It’s not very much fun when you break up in a public relationship. So, maybe next time keep a secret.”

Though the Jonas Brothers member has been portrayed as a heartbreaker, following his split from other young stars like Taylor Swift, Lovato defends him.

“I know that he has the best intentions,” she says. “Definitely most guys don’t have the same intentions that he does.”

Teenage girls all over the world will be beyond excited now that Joe Jonas is single once again. And teenage boys will be thrilled that Disney star Demi Lovota is once again single. The singer announced that he and Demi Lovato have called it quits.

The couple first met on the set of Camp Rock in 2007. In which Lovato plays the character that Jonas falls for because of her amazing voice. After the filming, the two got to know each other better and hit things off. Lovato toured with Jonas the following year, and they have been together ever since.They both recently spoke to PEOPLE of their upcoming tour together which will kick off July 27 in Dallas. Lovato was excited to be on tour again with Jonas and was very much looking forward to it. However, fans were worried that the tour would be awkward due to the newly split.

Jonas and Lovato are still close friends, and promise their fans will not be disappointed. Jonas also told reporters that it was he who called it quits to focus on their friendship. Lovato confirms this, and states that they are still good friends and always will be.

Demi Lovato has urged her fans to reach out to those less fortunate – after a chance meeting with a homeless woman left her feeling heartbroken.

The Disney star has taken to her Twitter.com page to tell followers about her experience over the weekend and plead with them to be more caring.

In a series of posts, she writes, “It seems like society has become so greedy these days, and because of that it’s so easy for all of us to forget what we have.”“I just met a homeless woman sleeping on the sidewalk tonight. My heart is still breaking because everyone deserves a safe place to sleep at night. Especially women. It’s so dangerous for her. Please don’t ignore the poor. And take time out of your day to recognise the blessings you have.”
